Satvat Jagwani - AIR 1Satvat Jagwani - AIR 1
With an incredible score of 469 out of 504, Satvat Jagwani bagged the 1st position to become topper of JEE Advanced 2015. This topper from Satna, Madhya Pradesh believes that enjoying his studies gave him an edge during preparation as well as in the final result for JEE Advanced. Satvat followed a simple yet effective preparation strategy that helped him crack the toughest engineering entrance exam in India.

Enjoy the preparation phase
Physics and Mathematics are two of my favorite subjects. So, I did not really feel like I was preparing. I was just enjoying studies. I did not really follow any strict study routine. I kept it simple.

Work on weak areas & strengthen strong areas
I worked on the areas I was weak in and focused on strengthening my strong areas. Besides this, my teachers helped me a lot. All I had to do was revise whatever they would teach me and do my homework for the class.

Take mock tests
I took a lot of mock tests. That helps you to manage time. Practising mock tests also help you to know where you are making mistakes. I had done well in most of my mock tests. So, that fuelled my confidence for the actual examination.

Message for aspirants
Focus on your strengths. Keep practicing and keep revising. To achieve anything, you need to work hard.

Janak Agrawal AIR 2Janak Agrawal - AIR 2
Hailing from Indore, Janak Agrawal bagged All India Rank 2 by scoring an outstanding score of 453 out of 504 in JEE Advanced 2015. A believer of a famous quote by Adolf Hitler - “If you want to shine like sun, first you have to burn like it.”, the topper gives full credit of his success to the intense efforts and hard work that he put during the preparation time.

A student of Ilva Higher Secondary School and the topper from IIT Delhi zone, Janak finds resort to swimming and playing table tennis when he is stressed after long hours of studies. The topper is a science lover and never compromised on his hobbies during the preparation time. He loves watching movies and hanging out with his close friends to revive his mind.

Be 100 per cent focused
I studied for eight hours daily apart from attending coaching classes. I put all my energy and hard work in cracking this exam. I handled stress and pressure from studies very calmly. My opinion is that whenever you sit down to study, do it with complete sincerity.

Solve sample papers as many as possible
I worked towards improving my time management skills while solving sample papers. This helps a lot while you deal with the actual question paper during those three hours.

Love all subjects
The most prominent reason behind being a topper of JEE Advanced is that I would love all these three subjects - Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. I never felt any kind of burden during my preparation period to crack this exam.

Coaching classes not necessary
Coaching can be helpful to you, but it is not essential. One can crack JEE Advanced without coaching as well. It is like learning a musical instrument. You can learn it by practicing diligently by yourself or you can take help from an expert and then play it. So in my view, it is very much possible to get into an IIT without taking coaching classes.

Message for aspirants
You should not take stress at any point of your preparation phase. Science is fun! Put all your hard work while studying and give your 100 per cent. To relax your mind after studying for prolonged hours, take a break and do whatever interests you. Don’t leave your hobbies ever.

Give your 100 per cent
I used to study for 10 hours a day with complete concentration during the preparation time. I always gave my 100 per cent whenever I sat down for study. In these last two years, I worked really hard in order to crack this exam.

Never get demotivated
I saw a lot of highs and lows in the last two years but never got demotivated. In the last few months, I studied a lot and put all my energy into it. Consistent hard work is the key to my success. I maintained the same excitement level during my preparation phase that I had on the first day.

You can crack JEE Advanced without taking coaching classes
I opine that a student can crack this exam without taking coaching classes. Sincere self-study is needed, whether you do that at your home or at coaching classes.

Message for aspirants
Consistent hard work is an essential element to crack JEE Advanced. Be focused whenever you sit down to study and take small breaks whenever you get tired. Give your 100 per cent, especially in the last few weeks and never get demotivated even if you couldn’t perform well.
