JEE Main 2016 Application Form, Exam Dates, Syllabus

JEE Main 2016 stands for Joint Entrance Examination Main Exam. JEE Main 2016 is conducted to grant admission into the undergraduate programs for engineering. The chosen institutions are NITs and IIITs. Other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions, institutions that the State Governments fund, and those that simultaneously consider the scores of 10+2 examination (or its equivalent examinations) and JEE Main. The Paper 1 of this examination is for admission into B.E. or B.Tech. The score obtained in this paper will be one of the major determining factors for cracking JEE Main 2016 . The next stage of JEE (Main) is for taking admission into the IITs for the UG programs. JEE Main is recently entertained by the states of Gujarat, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Nagaland, Odisha, Punjab and Uttarakhand. The institutions of these states used to enquire about the applicants’ State Level Examination. However, since recent times, they have been requiring the scores obtained in JEE Main. JEE Main 2016 Eligibility Criteria


  • Age Criteria - The applicants of JEE (Main) 2016 must have been born on or after 01.10.1991 if belonging to the GEN or OBC-NCL category. S/he must be born on or after 01.10.1986 if applying against the SC, ST or PwD quota.
  • Nationality -Indian citizens are allowed to apply for JEE (MAIN) 2016.
    • Educational Qualification -An applicant can apply for JEE Main 2016 at the most thrice.The applicant must have appeared for the 12th grade examination in either 2013 or 2014.

Applicants who are interested must fill and submit the application form of AEEE 2016.
The steps for applying for JEE Main 2016 are enlisted below:
  • The Application Form for JEE Main 2016 is an online one.
  • It requires to be filled online at their official website: www.jeemain.nic.in.
  • The applicant must decide if s/he wants to attempt for Paper 1 or 2 or both.
  • The Confirmation Page is advised to be preserved by the applicant for future references.
  • Entries like Examination Details, Personal Details, Academic Details, Contact Details and Guardian Details must be inserted accordingly.
  • A scanned photograph must be uploaded to complete the procedure.
  • The form has to be submitted along with the corresponding fees.
  • Later, the applicants must download and print the admit card when it is available for printing.

  • The fee for JEE Main 2016 can be paid through a debit or a credit card.
  • It can also be paid through an e-challan at the following banks: Syndicate, Canara, ICICI or HDFC

The admit card has to be printed and carried for the examination. Any mistakes on the card is changeable. Regarding that, communication must be made with the JEE (Main) Secretariat immediately.

JEE Main 2016  Exam Pattern


  • For JEE Main 2016, there will be two papers - Paper 1 and Paper 2.
  • Paper 1 will be held in both the modes – online and offline.
  • The online mode is termed as Computer Based examination.
  • The offline mode is termed as Pen and Paper Based examination.
  • The applicant has to select which mode s/he wants to opt for.
  • Paper 2 will be held only in the Pen and Paper mode.
  • Paper 1 is for admission into B.E. or B.Tech.
  • Paper 2 is for admission into B.Arch. or B.Planning.

JEE Main 2016 Selection Mode


The selection for names appearing in the rank list is based on the applicants’ appearance for both Paper 1 and Paper 2 of JEE Main 2016 . The marks obtained in this examination will determine the rank obtained by the applicant. Also, the 10+2 score will be given weightage. 60% and 40% weightages will be given to the scores of JEE Main 2016 and 12th grade, respectively.

JEE Main 2016 RESULT

The result declared in April, 2016 (approximately) will be the result of Paper 1. Also, the names of the eligible applicants for JEE (Advanced) 2016 will be displayed.
The AIR will be declared through a separate Rank List. This will be the actual result of JEE (Main) 2016.

JEE Main 2016 Preparation Tips

  • The mode of selection of the examination must be done thoughtfully. If you are very comfortable with the computer, you must opt for the Computer Based mode.
  • Your preparation must match with the mode that you have selected.
  • You must start with whichever subject you find difficult so that you have time to focus more on it.
  • The preparation must start very early, as the syllabus is definitely vast.
  • Since JEE (Main) considers the 10+2 score, your 11th and 12th score must be high too. So, your preparations must’ve started during your 11th
  • Follow the question paper pattern closely for better results.
