JEE Main 2016 Exam Day Guidelines
JEE Main 2016 Exam will be conducted on April 3 with commencement of Paper 1 at 9:30 am and Paper 2 at 2 pm. Both the exams will be of 3 hours each and will be held in pen and paper mode. Computer based test (only paper 1) is scheduled to be conducted on April 9 and 10. JEE Main is the largest online UG entrance exam in India and as many as 12,07,257 candidates have registered for
this exam this year. There are nearly 34,000 seats to be filled via JoSAA (seat allocation authority for admissions to IITs, NITs, IIITs, GFTIs, others) counselling. Exam Guidelines for JEE Main 2016
- Candidates are advised to reach the venue at least 30 minutes before the examination so as to complete the registration formalities well ahead of the time. Registration desk will be closed five minutes prior to the examination.
- The candidate must show, on demand, JEE Main 2016 Admit Card for entry in the examination room/hall. A candidate, who does not possess this identity document issued by the board, will not be permitted for the examination under any circumstances by the centre superintendent.
- The candidates are advised to also bring with them a copy of document (as per following applicable criteria) on the exam day and submit the same to the invigilator at the examination centre. The candidates have to write roll number of JEE Main 2016 on the copy of the document being submitted in support of class 12th/qualifying examination.

- The candidates claiming the relaxation under PwD category must carry with them the copy of PwD certificate in the prescribed format issued by the competent authority.
- A seat indicating roll number will be allocated to each candidate. He/she should find out and occupy the allotted seat only.
- The candidate should ensure that the question paper available to him/her is as per his/her choice of medium.
- Candidates are not allowed to carry any baggage inside the examination center. Also, they are not allowed to take with them textual material, calculators, slide rules, log tables, electronic watches with facilities of calculator, printed or written material, bits of papers, mobile phone, pager or any other device inside the examination room/hall.
- Smoking and eating is strictly prohibited in the examination room. Tea, coffee, cold drinks or snacks are also not allowed to be taken inside during exam hours.
- No candidate, without special permission of the centre superintendent or the invigilator concerned, will leave his/her seat or examination room until the exam is over.
- Candidates are advised to bring with them a cardboard or a clip board on which nothing should be written, so that they have no difficulty in filling responses in the answer sheet. They should also bring with them their own ball point pens (black/blue) of good quality.
- Candidate shall write particulars with blue/black ball point pen only on both the sides of the answer sheet. Use of pencil is strictly prohibited.
- A signal will be given at the beginning of the examination and at half-time. A signal will also be given before the closing time when the candidate must stop marking the responses.
- The candidate shall check that the test-booklet contains the equal number of pages as written on top of the first page of the test booklet. The candidates should also verify the serial number and series of the test booklet with the serial number and series of OMR sheet. In case of any variation, the test booklet and OMR sheet should be immediately returned to the invigilator for the replacement with another set of same series available in the examination hall.
- The candidates must sign twice on the attendance sheet at the appropriate place - first, immediately after the commencement of the examination and secondly, when handing over the answer sheet to the invigilator. The candidates are also required to put their left hand thumb impression in the space provided in the attendance sheet.
- For Aptitude Test in Architecture, candidates are advised to bring their own geometry box set, pencils, erasers and colour pencils or crayons.
